About Cara Hayes
About Cara Hayes
Nutrition writer for the Phytality Knowledge Centre
Qualifications
- Master of Science and Master of Nutrition and Dietetics, University of Sydney (2009-2015)
Role at Phytality
Cara writes and maintains all editorial content in the Phytality Knowledge Centre. This includes over 120 articles covering omega-3 nutrition, chlorella, marine phytoplankton, supplement purity, and the evidence behind health claims.
Her work focuses on translating published nutrition science into guidance that is accurate, practically useful, and honest about what the evidence does and does not support. Every article is written against the Phytality editorial policy, which requires EFSA-authorised health claims to be cited with their intake conditions, and unsupported claims to be identified as such.
Background
Cara holds a dual Masters degree from the University of Sydney, combining a Master of Science with a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics. Her training covered clinical nutrition, biochemistry, food science, and evidence-based practice.
Before joining Phytality, Cara worked in clinical and community nutrition settings, developing a focus on how people make supplement decisions and what information helps them make better ones.
Editorial Approach
Cara writes from a vendor perspective and is transparent about this. Phytality manufactures the products discussed in the Knowledge Centre, and every article includes a Methodology and Disclosure section stating this commercial interest. Where Phytality's products are not the right choice for a reader, the articles say so.
Health claims in the Knowledge Centre follow EFSA authorisation standards. Claims that are not authorised under EU Regulation 432/2012, regardless of how commonly they appear in supplement marketing, are identified and explained rather than repeated.
Disclosure
Cara is employed by Phytality and writes exclusively about topics related to Phytality's product range. She does not claim independent editorial status. The Knowledge Centre is a vendor-operated educational resource, and readers should consider this when evaluating its content.
